--Basics--
Name: Hagar Hunter

Super name: Animal

Age: 22

Gender: Male (even when shape-shifted by contact with a female)


--Physical: Appearance--
Height & Weight: 5'10, 165 lbs. normally, typically very increased when shifted.

Build/Body type: Slightly slender, with some clear muscles.

Skin: A little bit off-color, as if he has a bit of a condition. Olive with a bit more green than normal.

Hair: Brown and naturally wavy, but very messy as he doesn't keep it straight.

Eyes: Green

Clothing: In super outfit, he typically goes topless as clothes feel terribly uncomfortable and pointless when he's part animal, despite this meaning his skin is exposed for touch. His pants consist of a highly flexible brand made specifically for superheroes who can change size like himself. While it does have a limit, it has a surprisingly large stretch area.


--Personality--
Loves: Time alone, animals, oatmeal (one of the few vegetarian dishes that actually tastes good)

Hates/Fears: Hurting others, accidentally or on purpose. Losing control of himself. Villains. Robots. He's frustrated by electronics and technology in general and how they mess up with his animal instincts and senses.

Strengths: He's always tries to think through things rationally, and when given time can be quite the tactician, and is able to overcome all kinds of obstacles. He has a rather self-sacrificial attitude, even if it's not necessarily for the right reason. He always strives to make the decision the helps save the most people.

He's also very polite when talking to other unless he's in a rude shifted form.

Weaknesses: The personality shifts of his animal forms can lead him to be easily manipulated. The further he goes to an any animal, the less wise and more gullible and compulsive he gets. He has a difficult time taking responsibility for his actions. Despite his great struggle to control all his emotions, he isn't always that good at it.

Physically he's strong, but any prolonged touch will turn him back to human by his shapeshifting powers, making him lose all his animal abilities and increased strength.

Bringing up his past is a seriously touchy subject, and thus despises pity from those who know about it. His low opinion of himself coupled with his healing powers can end up causing him to put himself very far into harm's way without a second thought.


Attitude in a group: Depends on his form and the situation. Generally takes charge if he has enough knowledge about the situation.. Always takes charge if he's in a dominant species, and typically just follows when in a smaller animal form.

Quirks: He's a vegetarian by necessity, since eating meat will cause him to involuntarily shift. Getting him to unknowingly eat animal products or meat can have funny, if not occasionally destructive results. I.e. oatmeal made with milk instead of water will have him gain slight bull characteristics for the rest of the day.

He stammers when very nervous, and often ends up biting his tongue.

His biggest quirk, though, his odd case of multiple personality disorder. He has this by choice in a way. He treats his animal forms as separate personalities as a way to distance himself from strong emotions and to try and control them. He'll often have conversations with animals that he's not even shifted into currently inside his head. It's also a way to avoid guilt for actions done when shifted. Sometimes he can be seen arguing with nobody and is in-fact just arguing with himself.

--History/Background—

Family: Father – Ronald Hunter, aka The Hunter. (It's so overt its covert, you see), super strength. Patron of Greensberg. Deceased. Mother – Samantha Hunter, aka Shifter, Shapeshifting to any single animal at will. Lives outside of Diesel City.

Friends: Not…really…anybody…  He tends to keep away from close relationships, and although he's familiar with many people in Diesel City, he isn't particularly close with any person.  

Backstory: He grew up in what should have been a perfect home. His father was the Patron, having super strength, and his mother was a super who could shapeshift to any animal at will. While she didn't fight often with it, she was capable of doing so. She typically used it to help people in all kinds of ways, whether it was entertaining kids or hand delivering a message quickly by air, or helping track missing people. He inherited some of both of his parent's abilities, but wasn't as strong as either of them in their talents.

However, his father, while well loved by the city, was very harsh on Hagar when training him. In his eyes he was trying to help make Hagar strong, but neither of his parents realized just how much shifting into an animal affected his brain, unlike his mother, who completely kept her humanity all the time. One day his father pushed him too far, and in a fit of anger, Hagar, mostly bear at that point, accidentally killed his father. Before authorities could really figure out what happened, a Villain in large robot took advantage of the Patron's death and destroyed most of the town, killing thousands of people before supers from other towns could come down and help.

Hagar has since moved to Diesel city to escape from his past, and has been patrolling a small area of the city around where he lives constantly. He chose to live in this city because, despite the high annoyance of diesel and technology, he can help protect the most amount of people this way.

Note that the most people would be able to find out on their own is just that he's one of the few survivors of the great Greensberg disaster, and his father was assumed killed earlier by the same villain. His mother realizes the truth, however, and although she still cares about him, as of the beginning of the story, isn't able to forgive him yet.


--Combat—

Powers: Shapeshifting: [4] He has the power to turn into any animal that he touches. This process can take anywhere from 20 seconds to several minutes depending on how often he's used that animal form before and how much his body is used to it. The animal form affects his personality as well as physical attributes to a fairly large extent.

This power is also what he uses to turn back into a human. Any contact for more than a few seconds is enough to turn him back, as he's more used to a human form than anything else.

This power can be very useful if he's fully prepared for a fight to get just the right animal and abilities. However, the time required to fully shift makes him vulnerable when caught off his guard.

Healing: [4] While still technically his shapeshifting power, I'm including it as separate. He can use his ability to heal himself, as touching an animal or human reverts him into a basic form without injury by shifting his body around into that state. However, this takes up a good deal of energy, and if he's not careful can leave him stuck in his current form by exhausting himself. More serious injuries will tend to still require some time to fully heal, although he can always become functional fairly easily. This also takes time like the shapeshifting, and thus can't be used to prevent a quick death via gunshot or the like.

Super strength: [2] While not superman level by any means, whenever he is shifted into an animal form, he has increased strength and stamina in that form. As a human, though, he cannot use this. It is a passive abilities that works directly with his shapeshifting. Even when fully animal, which doesn't happen often, he will be stronger and larger than most animals of that kinds.

Animal empathy: [1] Animals aren't afraid of him. This allows him to go up and touch them without any issue, although it isn't enough to convince them to help him with anything. Also, although it might be enough to cause animals to hesitate some, any animal that's had enough training will still attack him. This is a passive power that's always working. He also seems to be able to communicate with animals better than other people. While he can't translate directly by any means, he almost always has a better sense of their emotions and is able to teach other animals better than most people. However, it's still very possible to spook an animal by assorted means and have them hate him.


Fighting Style: He's been well trained in fighting, even as a human. Even when not shifted at all he can handle himself somewhat well, although not really enough to fight any serious opponent. Since he was very young when he started training, his fighting style is almost automatic and thus carries over into shifted forms without issue until he's nearly fully animal. He is either completely aggressive or defensive. When aggressive he focuses on overpowering his opponent and knocking them to the ground or tripping them up. He's typically the first one to make a move, unless he's in a more defensive animal form. When on the defense, he specifically doesn't apply any lethal wounds, no matter the case. Instead he tries to incapacitate or wear down his opponent by blocking and redirecting attacks.

Weapons/Gear: He always keeps some animal skin on him to use to shapeshift if absolutely necessary, although he much prefers using a live animal since it takes a lot less energy.

He keeps a shark fin, snake skin, and cat fur on him at all times.

Group combat techniques: His only group combat experience was fighting with his mother against his dad during training a very long time ago. In rare situations when he's forced to fight with another super, he tries to separate the fight where they each fight their own targets.

Are you okay with other tournament entrants using your character in their tournament writing? Yes, please! Although he typically keeps to himself, the same isn't always said for his other animal forms. During the day, if he's not dealing with Patron he can be found working at the zoo or aquarium. Even though he personally hates giving tours and tries to avoid them, he's often roped into it from how much people love watching him shift into every animal there. He keeps such tours to an absolute minimum, however. At night he's patrolling a section of town. 

--Last Words--
List the three most important things about your character.
1. He's indirectly responsible for the death of thousands in his hometown and directly for his own father. He's broken.  
2. His personality can change rather drastically depending on what he's shifted to, and how far he's shifted.  
3. Although he can be a great foe when given time, turn him into a human by touch and he's almost useless.
